Proses penggerindaan yang dilakukan oleh unit kerja WF PT ATMI Solo salah satunya adalah proses pemotongan pipa\/hollow dengan sudut tertentu menggunakan gerinda potong. Salah satu kesulitan proses pemotongan pipa\/hollow di unit kerja WF adalah hasil pemotongan yang tidak sesuai dengan marking, sehingga sudut yang dihasilkan tidak sesuai ukuran yang diminta. Hal itu terjadi karena adanya defleksi\/pergeseran batu gerinda ketika digunakan untuk proses pemotongan pipa\/hollow. Solusi dari permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan membuat alat bantu yang dapat memotong material pipa dengan menggunakan prinsip gerinda potong yang bisa di setting sudut pemotongannya dari 15-75\u00b0, yang menghasilkan hasil potongan yang presisi, membuat pencekaman agar tidak bergeser ketika digunakan untuk memotong. Alat bantu tersebut membuat efisiensi penggunaan ruangan yang ada di unit kerja WF PT ATMI Solo menjadi lebih tinggi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode VDI 2222 untuk mempersiapkan rancang bangun alat bantu mesin gerinda.
